Discovery Channel visits Northwest Helicopters |
|
|
6-12-05
The Discovery Channel led by Ian Reddick came to The Olympia Heliport
and Northwest Helicopters to film a special on the Bell UH-1H in the
early part of June. During this time we flew one company owned UH-1H
and Phil Connolly’s UH-1H in formation filming several hours of
footage. There were also on site interviews with some Vietnam Veterans
that later flew with us in the production. The pilots were: Brian
Reynolds commanding the company demonstrator, Ralph Chappell and Phil
Connolly in the 129th AHC ship, and Trever Walker in the Bell Jetranger
camera ship. This is part of a series called “Worlds Greatest”. Look
for the “Worlds Greatest Helicopters” to air in the U.S. sometime in
late 2005. The filming schedule was tight and special thanks needs to
go to the outstanding cooperation of the Northwest maintenance staff
the Discovery Channel film and sound crew. It was a fantastic
experience. If you like UH-1H’s, Don’t miss the show!

9-13-05
Representing Flight Services from Chile, Mr. Robinson Barrientos is
seen here accepting the last Two of a Four Helicopter order for Bell
UH-1H’s. These Helicopters are being exported to Chile for use in Fire
Fighting. Through its distributor in Chile, Northwest Helicopters was
contracted to completely rebuild and re-furbish these Helicopters to
special order by Flight Service. The ships we taken out of stock,
completely stripped, overhauled, certified, and test flown, packed and
shipped from here in Olympia Washington. These were the first
aircraft exported on our new UH-1H Restricted Type Certificate that is
approved both in the USA and Chile. All Four Helicopters have now
arrived safely in Chile and are in service.
