Shown here is our Chief Pilot, Doug Uttecht at the top of Mt. Rainer. He performed a rescue picking up an injured climber and a park ranger at 14,500 feet in the MD 530FF helicopter. This job is usually tasked to the military and their CH-47 Chinook but when none were available NWH was called and went into action. There is nothing in the modern light helicopter class that performs like the 530FF at these extreme altitudes. Doug reported he still was “in the green” during this operation and had a lot of extra capability left on tap during this rescue.
